WELCOME BACK TO THE HECKLERPLAINS WEBSITE:  I HAVE TALKED ABOUT DOING A ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN,  OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS DECIDED THAT THE VALPAK PACKAGE, FOR THE MOST PART, ISN'T THE BEST OPTION, THEY FEEL THAT TO MANY PEOPLE JUST THROW THESE THINGS AWAY WHEN THEY ARRIVE.  WHAT WE HAVE DECIDED TO DO, IS A PLACEMAT ADVERTISING, AT THE ROY ANN DINER ON OLD 309, OUTSIDE OF SELLERSVILLE.  IT IS ALWAYS A BUSY PLACE, AND WE'VE CONTRACTED TO RUN IT FOR 6 MONTHS, FROM MARCH THROUGH AUGUST, THIS WILL PUT 90,000-100,000 PLACEMATS IN FRONT OF THE LOCAL PUBLIC, AND HELP GENERATE A GREAT TURNOUT FOR THE EVENTS.  WE MAY STILL ASK VENDORS FOR A 10% DISCOUNT ON ANY ONE ITEM, TO HELP DEFER OUR COST FOR THIS VENTURE, BUT IT SHOULD HELP BRING MORE PEOPLE IN, AND HAVE MORE SALES FOR VENDORS.  In 2010, we will again be offering a discount to vendors who book both the May & August shows, this will be $40.00, otherwise each show will cost $15.00 for the May show, and $30.00 for the August show respectively.

IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN DOING OUR CRAFT/ARTIST SHOWS, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT :   tazzy17@yahoo.com,  or through our website : HecklerPlains.org.,  or through our listing in Eventlister.com. :  http//www.eventlister.com.

....2009 shows and activities................8/14/09, UPDATE :   hECKLERFEST IS ONLY ABOUT A WEEK AWAY NOW.  AT PRESENT WE HAVE 28 VENDORS ( SOME WITH MORE THAN ONE SPACE), SO IT SHOULD PROVE TO BE A VERY GOOD DAY TO BE CHECKING OUT EVERYBODYS CRAFTS AND ARTWORK.  wE HAVE A FOOD VENDOR THIS YEAR AS WELL, AND ITS A GOOD THING, AS WE'RE A LITTLE SHORTHANDED WITH OUR STAFF.     wE HAVE jEWELRY, WOODWORK, METALWORK, MOSIACS, KNITTED ITEMS, WHIRLY GIGS FOR YOUR YARD AND SO MUCH MORE.  AT OUR MOST RECENT MEETING, I'VE LEARNED THAT THE ÖAKLURE QUESTORS"A GROUP THAT HAS SUPPORTED US FOR QUITE SOME TIME, IS GOING TO HAVE A BOOTH, AND WILL BE RAFFLING OFF A QUILT,  THIS IS A HANDMADE QUILT (THATS WHAT THIS GROUP DOES), WE HAVE A PUPPET SHOW FOR THE KIDS.   WE WERE NOT ABLE TO ACQUIRE THE HAY RIDE FOR THIS YEAR, REGRETTABLY THE PEOPLE DON'T SEEM TO WANT TO BOTHER WITH IT ANYMORE AND AREN'T ANSWERING THEIR PHONE CALLS.   THE COLONIAL GARDEN HAS BEEN FANTASTIC THIS YEAR.  SOME BOY SCOUT GROUPS HAVE TAKEN ON THE REPAIR OF THE FENCING OUT BY THE BARN, AND ANOTHER GROUP WITH SOME RESTORATION ON THE SPRING HOUSE.   REMEMBER WE HAVE AN ARRAY OF COLONIAL CRAFTS BEING DEMONSTRATED, AND THE OUTDOOR BAKE OVEN WILL BE IN USE WITH SOME DELICIOUS PIES.    tHERE IS A LARGE DISPLAY INSIDE THE HOUSE WITH ARTIFACTS, AND MERRILL WILL BE GLAD TO HELP ANYONE WITH GENEOLGY QUESTIONS.     8/17  Its quite possible that i rattled somebodys cage a little, Joan has emailed me today saying she was contacted by the people with the hayride, so mabey we will still have this for the kids.  Joan is out trying to get some sponsors for the cost of the hayride, I will keep you posted on this event.

With the beginning of the new season, we at Heckler are in planning stages of the upcoming shows.  We have a work day scheduled for the garden, hopefully to get it tilled and start spring plantings.  The group has a trip planned, going out to the Landis Valley Museum, to see if we can find information or ways of doing things, that could improve our displays and goings on.

With the May 2, herb/plant sale and craft show coming quickly.  We have quite a few crafters signed up, many are registering to do both shows, and this year, I added a discount bonus to crafters and artist that register for both shows.   The farmstead is 36 acres, and although I list that we can accomadate 50 craft vendors for each show, we could expand this if necessary.

I am also adding a page for the crafts people who help us out every year, who's registration fees help fund our childrens programs and activities here at the farmstead.  Starting with the month of May, I will randomly select crafters or artist for each month of the year, going up to next May.  One each month, will have a small write up, and pictures displaying their work, this being to help with possible sales for them, and to keep quality crafters returning to our shows.
