WELCOME BACK TO THE HECKLERPLAINS WEBSITE:  I HAVE TALKED ABOUT DOING A ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN,  OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS DECIDED THAT THE VALPAK PACKAGE, FOR THE MOST PART, ISN'T THE BEST OPTION, THEY FEEL THAT TO MANY PEOPLE JUST THROW THESE THINGS AWAY WHEN THEY ARRIVE.  WHAT WE HAVE DECIDED TO DO, IS A PLACEMAT ADVERTISING, AT THE ROY ANN DINER ON OLD 309, OUTSIDE OF SELLERSVILLE.  IT IS ALWAYS A BUSY PLACE, AND WE'VE CONTRACTED TO RUN IT FOR 6 MONTHS, FROM MARCH THROUGH AUGUST, THIS WILL PUT 90,000-100,000 PLACEMATS IN FRONT OF THE LOCAL PUBLIC, AND HELP GENERATE A GREAT TURNOUT FOR THE EVENTS.  WE MAY STILL ASK VENDORS FOR A 10% DISCOUNT ON ANY ONE ITEM, TO HELP DEFER OUR COST FOR THIS VENTURE, BUT IT SHOULD HELP BRING MORE PEOPLE IN, AND HAVE MORE SALES FOR VENDORS.  In 2010, we will again be offering a discount to vendors who book both the May & August shows, this will be $40.00, otherwise each show will cost $15.00 for the May show, and $30.00 for the August show respectively.

    • colonial cooking demos, put on by Tom & Sandy Zimmerman

For 2010 Tom & Sandy will be attending a food symposium at the end of Febuary at Pennsbury Manor, on meats & table fare in colonial america, hopefully we'll be able to bring a blend of this to our Hecklerfest demonstrations.

At the September 8, meeting, we discussed the outcome of the event.  Some feel there wasn't an abundance of interest in some of the colonial demonstrations, such as the quilting (at least by younger kids), it was discussed that possibly we could introduce some newer items to be demonstrated.  I also made a suggestion of possibly having corn on the cob cooking in a big pot over the fire, and putting these on a stick and using some of the homemade butter from the butter churning demos for the corn on the cob, then putting this up with the chicken corn soup.  I had also suggested possibly having someone make homemade ice cream, but it was pointed out that it takes a large amount of time to make small amounts, this is something we still need to check into a bit better.
