WELCOME BACK TO THE HECKLERPLAINS WEBSITE: I have talked about an advertising program, that would benifit both Heckler Plains, our vendors and the community. Last year, I talked with Valpak, who puts monthly coupons in your mail, at that time, we worked out some basics for a way to make more people come see our show, and our vendors. It would entail each of the vendors to allow a discount (possibly 10% off of any one item over $10.00), which might bring more sales to the vendors, more people to the show, and a savings to ones looking to buy something. The mailings (3), would go out in mid April (before the May 1st show), mid July, and again in mid August (before the Hecklerfest show on August 21st -rain date August 22). Doing something like this, would put a coupon in about 10,000 homes in our immediate area. Because each mailing would cost about $275-300 per mailing, we would need to have a minimum of 50 vendors at the August show, and the more the better at the May show, and all would be required to allow the discount for a item. In 2010, we will again be offering a discount to vendors who book both the May & August shows, this will be $40.00, otherwise each show will cost $15.00 for the May show, and $30.00 for the August show respectively.

Local History with an educational twist.
The Heckler farmstead dates back to the mid 1700's and features an outdoor bake oven , a Pennsylvania German four square kitchen garden and a rare Rhine Valley Bottom Barn which predates the american revolution. Our hands-on history events enable visitors to experince history by living history. Antique tools are used to produce flax and card wool in the barn during festivals and colonial education days for area school children. The outside bake oven is fired and fresh pies are made. The garden is authentically maintained and early growing practices are followed. This historic farmstead is located at Landis & Morris Rds., Harleysville, Pa.
The Heckler Plains Folklife Society has been in existence since 1975, originally started as BluePrint '76. The organization, staffed by volunteers, host groups of grade school classes who spend the day in true colonial life, performing such chores as candlemaking, butter churning, sherensnitte, tin punching, wool carding, and flax hetcheling. The garden is authentically maintained and early growing practices are followed.
