W.S. Hancock Society will return for herbfest in 2012, you may also view pictures from their visit to the farm in the fall, when they turned the place into a Tavern.
The group that is involved with presenting the special on saturday May 7th and sunday May 8, is heavily into the reenactment and people involved with Historic Bedford Village, located off the Pa turnpike near Somerset, Pa. They have many more special weekends and festivals at that site. My wife says she has never seen so many log structures in one area, we were out there this past July and there must be close to 30 buildings on the site that you can go through, and they have people in them as interprenators, its very impressive, and well worth the visit. Similar in ways to Sturbridge Village in Mass.,
In the fall, this group came back to the Heckler farmstead and turned the 1830's house into a 1820's Tavern, along with reinacting various period issues that would have been present at the time, the site was set up much like a Tavern on the coach road out of Philadelphia. The group will return during our Herbfest weekend, May 5, 2012
